With the aim of developing basic data for a re-conceptualization of early childhood education curriculum this study de-constructs certain phenomena of regularized and institutionalized early childhood education from the perspective of postmodernism Using a review of the literature and the qualitative method of participant observation this research analyzes the effects of teacher power on children in a day care center classroom
The findings are as follows Teachers used their power in terms of time and group control for effective classroom management Teacher power was exercised mainly in the form of verbal threat Teachers didn't recognize these verbal threats as their power because such threats were the currency of common But children felt the threats as the power of the teacher and therefore they obeyed their teacher
